YOUNG rider Holly Stevenson has continued her good summer form into the winter season.

The 13-year-old from West Rounton recently claimed first and third spots on Mr Shorty and Stainsby Irish Mist respectively in the winter 148 championships at Stainsby Grange to qualify for premier show second rounds.

Irish Mist then won the Junior Sapphire competition in the hotly-contested two-day Blue Chip winter qualifying championships at Richmond equestrian centre last weekend.

Holly then rode him to third place on the second day for a qualifying spot in the Junior Coral event, in which he was outpaced for the red rosette by his stable-mate Mr Shorty.

Mr Shorty completed a good weekend with second place in the 1.10m open before qualifying as one of only seven clear rounds in the Blue Chip Sparkle class.

Holly now takes both ponies to the prestigious Blue Chip finals to be held at Solihull next April. She is trained at Stainsby Grange by Peter Allen and at home by Sandy Sanderson
