Darlington Under-13s traveled north of the Tyne to visit Percy Park and returned to winning ways as they showed much more determination than the previous two matches.

Darlington kicked off and Rory Clegg was first to a loose ball passing wide to Joe Kiberigge. Joe ran the ball back at Percy Park evading tackles, just a yard or so short of the line he was eventually knocked to the ground but not held he managed to scramble back to his feet and dive over in the corner for the opening try.

Only minutes after the restart Darlington won a scrum against the head and the ball was passed out to the right, Darlington switched play to the left where Marcus Moore ran down the left wing to score.

Darlington could have scored a third try in the first ten minutes when Lewis Morgan drove over from a set piece but was adjudged, quite rightly, to have started before the referee was ready.

Darlington played controlled and determined rugby throughout the first half, the forwards had a tough game against big opposition, the backs all had an outstanding game Jordan Riley and Mat Lister both excelling. On 22 minutes Fly Half Rory Clegg, behind good forward play, made some space with a trademark dummy before running in from the 22 to make the lead at half time 17 points to nil.

The closing minutes of the first half saw Percy Park on the ascendance and Darlington found themselves under pressure early in the second. Percy Park won more of the ball both at the scrummage and in rucks and mauls. The Percy Park forwards moved the ball determinedly towards the Darlington line before eventually going over in the corner for their only try of the game. Darlington's head coach, Dale Kelly, quietly suggested to the Darlington players that they had fallen asleep and stopped trying. Percy Park however continued their attack but Darlington defended well before regaining control of the game.

Following good work by the forwards Joe Kiberigge made it to the line only to be held up by the Percy Park defence. From the scrum Darlington won clean ball and Rory Clegg again made space to run in under the posts.

Darlington ran in two more trys in the final five minutes the first from scrum half Paul Smith, who had an excellent game. Dexter Bogle had come close earlier when he lost the ball forward having crossed the line but neatly picked up a loose ball to score a deserved final try and take the points tally to 38.

Percy Park played uncomplainingly with enthusiasm and spirit in a well refereed and hard game.
