A racehorse trainer is due to appear in court charged with motoring offences.

Karl Richard Burke, part of the racing community of Middleham, in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, is accused of driving without a licence or insurance.

He has also been charged with failing to produce relevant documents after he was stopped by police in Bedale Market Place just before midnight on July 5.

Mr Burke, 39, who operates out of Spigot Lodge, did not appear at Richmond Magistrates' Court yesterday. The court was told that he was in Dubai "on urgent business""

The hearing was adjourned until December 12.
