FOOTBALL stars are to kick start a town's Christmas celebrations.
Middlesbrough players Geremi and Massimo Maccarone will switch on Stockton's Christmas lights, it was revealed last night.
Organisers Stockton Borough Council say the identity of the special guests flicking on the switch was deliberately being kept a closely guarded secret.
Father Christmas will arrive in the town on board a dragon boat bringing him up the River Tees, from which he will transfer to a waiting Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Ventriloquist Keith Harris and Orville, currently appearing at the Billingham Forum will be there too, this Sunday, as Stockton mayor Coun Jean O'Donnell opens a two lane toboggan run on the Riverside.
