In the Premier Steels SC stay three points clear at the top.

They did well to win 1-0 away to Seaton Delaval. Seaton played much better than their lowly position suggested and in the first half definitely had the edge although the score was 0-0. Steels' keeper Nigel Stewart was in excellent form pulling off a series of great saves to deny Rob Kitching, Common, Foreman and Goldie scoring. The restart saw Steels having a great deal of the play and eventually the breakthrough occurred when Tommy Cowie out-jumped all to power head home a corner. Seaton fought back only for Jim Wood to head over the bear when well placed and then Bobby Pearson shot wide from close in. Steels owned a lot to their keeper and the fact that their defence never panicked when under pressure in their heard-earned win.

Billingham Wanderers won 4-0 away to Usworth. The first half was fairly even with Billingham leading 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Keith Corner. The restart saw Billingham still holding the advantage and going 2-0 up when Steve Parkes scored on his debut. With only ten minutes remaining Billingham completely settled the issue by scoring twice through Keith Aldridge and Mark Steel to run out comfortable 4-0 winners.

Killingworth Arms recorded the highest score of the day. they won 8-1 at home to Sunderland Catholic Club. The first half saw Killingworth slightly the better side and leading 2-0 at the break. The restart saw Catholic Club open in fine style and Stephen Hope quickly scored to make it 2-1 to the visitors. But it was only short lived as they rapidly tired and let Killingworth back into the game and completely take over and scorer a further six goals.

Killingworth's marksmen were Martin Henderson (4), Paul Hodgson a brace and Michael Haley and Jedd Stanton one apiece.

Ferryhill Greyhound dropped two points by drawing 2-2 at home to Owton Manor, Kenny Myers gave Manor the lead but John Grady levelled just after the restart following a goalless first half. Micky Skirving restored Manor's lead but a controversial penalty award saw David Stephenson score the equaliser.

In Division One Newton Aycliffe drew 0-0 with Wallsend RAOB. It was a game which was a battle between both defences with not many clear cut chances. At times it was end to end football with numerous shots on goal but to no avail. Newton Aycliffe's keeper Ian Shepherd blotted out all Wallsend's efforts and Stuart Hewson and Tony Jinks could not beat Wallsend's keeper.

Unbeaten Marden lost their game, dropping three valuable home points going down 2-1 to Wardley Green. The first half ended goalless and it was Wardley who took the lead when Robert Haldane scored direct with his corner kick. Marden came back strongly and John Hall levelled. In the last quarter Wardley regained their lead when Haldane scored again in a goalmouth melee. Two minutes from time Marden were awarded a penalty. Paul Grigg took the spot kick only to see his shot hit the post and rebound to safety.

Langley Park Rams Head won 1-0 at home to Sedgefield in a very tight game and move into fourth place. The first half was very even ending goalless. Five minutes after the restart David Hancock out the Rams 1-0 up when he scored with a powerful drive from the edge of the box, from then on it was end to end football with Sedgefield trying desperately for the equaliser. Rams Head Kevin Morley was outstanding.

Darlington Croft were in fine form going nap to win 5-0 against the Willow Pond. The heavy greasy ground conditions appeared to the style of play and they led 2-0 at the interval courtesy of goals from John Dee, Michael Nelson and Jimmy Leafer. the restart saw the Pond coming back into the game but two further goals from Stephen Hades and a shot from Ian Raper which was deflected into the net for an own goal settled the issue.

Barnes Hotel almost won their first game of the season but they lost 3-2 at home to Wearmouth.

They led 1-0 at the interval through a Colin Rostron goal, but Wearmouth levelled after the restart and then went 2-1 into the lead. Barnes fought back and Rostron scored his second goal of the month to make it 2-2 only for Wearmouth to grab the winner in the last minute.

Inn Division Two Touchdown won 5-0 at home to Boldon. Leading 3-0 at half time, two second half goals saw Touchdown end easy winners. Scorers were Corbett (2), Punchen, McMillan and Maguire one apiece.

Consett lost 1-0 at home to British Telecom, a goal down after ten minutes, they hit the post and the bar and then missed a penalty.

Gateshead Ex-Servicemen continued to climb away from the bottom, they won 4-1 against Moor House. Leading 2-0 at the interval, they always were in control. As a matter of fact they scored all the goals, Tom Trainer, Robert Dunber, Malcolm Harrison and Alan Meldrum and Jeff Logan an own goal.

In Division Three Wynyard Veterans are well clear the top although they had to fight all the way to defeat Regency Windows 1-0 at home. Peter Boagle giving them the lead after when he scored with a fine solo run, Paul Roberts had an outstanding game. Wingate remain second despite losing 2-1 at home to West Cornforth. Darlington Railway lost 4-1 at home to Darsley Park. Trailing 2-1 at half time they tired badly in the second half and let the Park score two further goals.

In Division Four Wynyard OB lost 5-1 at home to Winstons. The heavy ground conditions took their toll as well as age and the Old Boys just could not cope with their younger opponents. For the Old Boys Terry Bean was outstanding but finished leg weary. Only 1-0 down at the interval they had to reshuffle their side owing to losing one of their players with a pulled hamstring, they fell apart. Scorers were for Winstons Rob Morrow a brace, Micky Loraine, Aidan Hughes and Bryan Maddison and for Old Boys Derek Harker.
