ONE of the region's historic theatres has chosen a hiatus in on-stage activity to launch a 'friends' group.
A £1.1m restoration project is currently under way at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond.
The theatre's supporters have decided that, as the refurbishment marks the beginning of a new era, it is the right time to launch a new friends organisation as well.
The Friends of the Richmond Georgian Theatre Royal will hold their first meeting at 7pm at Richmond Town Hall on Friday, January 17.
Speakers will outline the plans for the future as members enjoy a glass of wine.
