FESTIVE EVENTS: Springwell Village will hold a number of events over Christmas.

There will be a quiz and games night from 8pm on Thursday, at 50p per person. A quiz will be held on Christmas Eve, with a Boxing Day family disco from 7pm to 11pm. Tickets are £2. The George Rowell Dance Band will provide the music for a New Year's Eve 50/50 dance. Tickets are £5.

MAYORAL VISIT: Washington Age Concern's Christmas party, with entertainment from Kenny Daniels, was attended by Peter and Betty Gibson, the Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland.

FESTIVE NOTES: Christmas Nights with the Hard Core Troubadours will be held at 7.30pm on Friday and next Saturday, in the Biddick Arts Centre. Call 0191-219 3455 for the £7 tickets.

DANCE CLASS: Disco dancing classes for the over-fives are held on Saturday mornings in the Galleries at the Washington Leisure Centre. Further information is available on 0191-219 300.

MUSIC DATES: The Source will appear at 8pm tonight, in the Coach and Horses, Usworth, to be followed by the Screaming DTs at 8pm next Saturday.

FAMILY PARTY: A family and under-12s Christmas party will be held at the Washington Millennium Centre, in Concord, from 4pm to 5.30pm, on Monday. Tickets cost £1.

FOLK NIGHT: Musician and singer Roger Wilson will appear at the Davy Lamp Folk Club, at 7pm tonight, in the Biddick Arts Centre.

LIVE SHOW: Evergreen are now appearing every Sunday night in the Washington Gardener's Club.

WATCH PARTY: Neighbourhood Watch organised a free Christmas party for senior citizens in the White House club.

FRIENDS' DINNER: The Friends of Washington Old Hall will hold their Christmas dinner tonight.

MUSIC NIGHT: The Keelboat, Fatfield, will present Treble Whammy at 8pm on Friday.
