Darlington finally won another league game.

The opposition were the same, Stockton, but this time they won 4-3, New players John Forster and Stewart Dawson played key parts, with Forster scoring twice and Dawson picking up man of the match on his debut. Fred Wood and Dave Parker got the other goals, Paul Ryder (2) and Paul Callender got the Stockton goals. The result puts the teams level on points.

The top of the table clash between Tyne and Wear and Saints lived up to expectations, with the Fire team running out 3-2 winners, Peter Hamill, Paul Douthwaite and Garry Teasdale got the goals for Tyne and Wear, whilst Les Goodliff got both goals for Saints. Tyne and Wear beat Newcastle Police 5-3 after extra time, in what was described as a tremendous advert for the League. Into the second half, Troy Curry and Billy Khatib scored to give the Fife team the lead, a load they held until two minutes to go, when a second goal from Clough took the match to extra time. Tyne and Wear took the tie with a goal In either half of the extra period scored by Russell and Peter Hamill. Saints won 3-1 away to Durham Fire, to prevent an all Fire Brigade final. should be staged early next year. Stockton recovered from their defeat against Darlington with a 2-1 win over Derwentside, despite playing with ten men. Lee Rukin and Dave Bell got the Stockton goals, whilst Mick Turner scored for Derwentside. Durham HO and Langbaurgh shared six goals and the points at Aykley Heads.
