Tow Law Bass League: Newhouse Club stay in second place following their win against the visiting Stanley Earl Derby but it was thanks to a fine performance in the doubles.

The trebles were shared and then John Gilchrist, Stephen Turner and Keith Liddle took singles points for the home side but saw David Lacey, Wayne Anderson and Gary Cutler level the scores. When it came to the doubles, Newhouse Club were in top form and took all three.

Tow Law Cattle Mart are in third place but only managed an odd point home victory over Sunniside Comedian. The Mart got away to a good start by taking both trebles points before the singles were shared with Colin Boughey, Joe Jordan and Malcolm Boughey winning for the home side, whilst Colin Wilcoxson, John peacock and Ray Johnson scored for the Comedian. The visitors took two of the three doubles but the vital sixth point for the Cattle Mart was scored by Stephen Boughey and Joe Jordan. Willington League

Hunwick Joiners Arms held on to their top position when they only dropped three points on their visit to the Prospect Club. However despite their good win, the gap at the top was cut to one points when Willington Black Horse Tavern only dropped two points at Hunwick Quarry Burn. The destination of the Championship Trophy seems to be between these two teams as the third placed Willington Club trail the Horse by ten points.

The Prospect Club only managed one singles point when Paul Morris won against the visiting Hunwick Joiners Arms, who had singles wins from Kevin Dunnett, Kenny Peers, Ian Richardson, Paul Reidy and John Mason. Crook Queen's Head A moved a massive 63 points clear at the top of the table after they only dropped oen point to the visiting Tow Law Station. Tow Law New Market B are in second place with two matches in hand and a one point lead over Crook Travellers Rest, who have played the same number of games as the Queen's. Crook Jelly's Bar B are in third place, just five points behind the Travellers but have two matches in hand. Wear Valley Ladies League

The leading two teams both were beaten to tighten up the top of the table. Crook White Swan created a surprise when they travelled to Willington Brewer's Droop and beat the second placed team by three points, whilst the league leaders, Crook Mill House went down by the odd point at home to Crook Royal Sun. The Mill House now lead the table by two points from the brewer's Droop, who are two ahead of Crook Coach and Horses, with Crook Golden Fleece a further point adrift. The leading individual scorers list was led by Carol Haygarth of Crook Royal Sun with a maximum. Christmas Open Singles

The Tow Law New Market Christmas Open Darts Singles Tournament will be held on Saturday, 21 December with £100 added to the entry money to make up the prize fund.
