Blackfyne

The Under 8s beat Felling B 10-0. MoM Kieran Martin scored 1 with Tom Malone 1, Calvin Hillary 2, Phil McConnell 3 and Jonathan Telford 3 scoring the others.

The Under 9s beat Redheugh 3 - 1 with MoM Andrew Turnbull scoring a hat trick.

The Under 10s beat Whickham Fellside 2 - 1 despite having only 7 players available due to illness. The Bullets played some of their best football of the season on a very heavy pitch. Benjamin Camsell and Peter Westgarth scored the goals with Luke Richardson MoM.

The Under 13s made a great start when Steven Davison scored inside ten seconds. Blackfyne went on to beat the League leaders 4 - 3 with a strong performance from MoM Connal Reed and an excellent display from Goalkeeper Jake Horrocks. Chrissy Muncaster 1 and Connal Reed 2 were the other scorers.

The Under 15s drew 4 - 4 away to Redheugh. In an entertaining game Liam Burns scored in the last minute to equalise. MoM Scott Nicholson 2 and Tony O Brien 1 were the other scorers.

Thirsk Falcons

Thirsk Falcons U10s beat Brompton U10s 4-1. Front man Dan Easton got the Falcons off to a flying start with a fine left foot volley. The Falcons however then went on o control the proceedings with a long range effort by Ryan McKendry, a set piece headed corner by Mattie Cussons and one deflected own goal. Against Brompton B the Falcons A side came out victors by 5-0. Joint top scorers Ryan McKendry with one and four from Nick Newcombe. 23 goals a piece isn't a bad return for the first half of the season for these two marksmen. Both B teams were drawing 1-1until the break with Liam Evans scoring from the spot for the Falcons. The second half saw Brompton over power the Falcons. The final score ended five goals to one in Brompton's favour. Against Brompton A the Falcons B side lost by two goals to one with Robin Cook scoring the goal for the Falcons.

Falcons next match is at home to Catterick Village on Sunday 5 January 2003.

Auckland and District EBAC Youth League

Barnard Castle under-18s clinched their place in the semi finals of the Auckland and District EBAC Youth League Cup with Saturday's 3-0 success at home to Newton Aycliffe in the final qualifying game for both teams.

This was a game that Aycliffe had to win to have any chance of making the last four, but the Barney lads made sure of finishing top of group two in the qualifying competition with goals from John Kellett, Jamie Harwood and substitute Andrew Sams.

Coundon & Leeholme are also in the semis, their 4-1 win away to Meadowfield in their last qualifier ensuring they finish second in group two. Chris Stott netted a hat trick for the Coundon lads, Dale Jardine their other scorer. Andrew Graham scored Meadowfield's consolation.

With one game to play, league cup holders Willington are certain to finish top of group one. They will have home advantage over Coundon & Leeholme in the semis. Second place in group one lies between Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor Legion. Whoever wins that battle will be away to Barnard Castle in the other semi final.

The league game between Spennymoor Legion and Newton Aycliffe had to be abandoned after 70 minutes with the score 2-2. Tarry Garfield got both goals for the Legion, Stewart Owen and Paul Walker on target for Aycliffe.

Willington

Willington Boys under-9s played two hard-fought games in the Russell Foster Junior short-sided league, drawing 0-0 with Washington Dunlop in a top of the table clash before beating Houghton 2-0. In the first game, there were sound performances in defence from Ryan Ward, Mitchell Sowerby and Declan Wilkinson, and Willington goalkeeper Jamie Alderson made a brilliant save to keep the score level.

Against Houghton, Darren Nesbitt gave an outstanding display and scored both goals for Willington.

The Willington under-10s beat Boldon Colts 2-1 but then lost 1-0 to Chester Athletic Falcons. Jordan Roberts and MoM Jack Davison scored to sink Boldon. The team now has a break for Christmas and the New Year.

Darlington Albion

The Under 9s played away to Catterick AWS and due to weather all four games were played on astro turf.

Game 1 - Albion won 4-1. A good getermined game played at a fast pace which produced good football by both teams, Albion scorers D. Longstaff 3, R. Lewis 1.

Game 2 - Albion won 3-0. A hard fought game which Albion edged with excellent attacking football, Scorers J. Scarr 2, J. Carr 1.

Game 3 - Albion won 3-0. Another close game which could have gone either way, Albion scoring all their goals in the second half, Scorer D. Longstaff 3.

Game 4 - Albion lost 3-2. After twice goind behind Albion fought back to equalise, however Catterick sneaked a late winner, Scorers J. Scarr and J. Carr.

The Albion Under 12s After playing some excellent football in a closely contested game, Albion Under 12s were knocked out of Durham County Cup after losing on penalties.

Score after extra time 3-3, Albion Scorers Michael Johnson 2, Phil Caley 1.

The Albion Under 13s entertained Great Ayton at home, and after playing some excellent football Albion enjoyed a 12-1 victory. Scorers Kev Sung 7, Chris Binks 3, Michael Wilson 1 and 1 own goal. MOM Kev Sung.

Spraire Lads

Oagain the weather was the winner with most games called off. However, a few Spraire teams did manage to play the under 9 entertained Riverside Rovers in terrible weather conditions. Spraire took the lead through Zac Tervit then added a second through man of the match Wilson.

Kneeshaw the second half started with Spraire going 3-0 up through Kerry Hedley. Spraire then took the foot off the peddle and two quick goals brought Riverside back into the game. Spraire held on until the final whistle to record a good 3-2 win. Credit must go to both teams who played some good football in terrible conditions.

The U10s were away to Billingham and despite good work by stand in keeper Ben Bradley they lost 3-0 to a good Billingham team. Man of the match Jackson Kineeshaw.

The U14 were also away they played Teeside Athlectic and came away with a 1-3 win the goals coming from Craig Lavell (2) and a fire solo goal from MOM Michael Levelle.

The u16s were playing in a derby game against rivals all stars in and end to end game Spraire had the chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Hanson. However the kick went just wide.

All stars applied pressure and were rewarded with a goal, Spraire went in to the scored half determined to score Spraire played some good passing football and were rewarded with a goal for Griffiths, who also followed this with a second. The last few minutes saw both teams applying the pressure and all stars nearly equalised but Paterson cleared off the line. Spraire finished the game off with a goal from Duffy.

Despite playing the full game with only 10 men, the U13s achieved an thoroughly deserved 4-1 win away to Coulby Newham. The team showed great spirit to overcome a full strength opposition in difficult conditions. The goals came through a hat-trick, including a penalty, from debutant Freddie Huscroft and from Joe Clamp. Coulby Newham replied from the penalty spot.

Darlington 21st Allstars

The weather was the Allstars most threatening contender, but this did not deter the U11 Colts who pulled off a spectacular performance against Hartlepool St Francis B in the league and scored a dozen. Jamie Kilday opened the scoring with a fantastic lobby from over 20 yards even in the atrocious conditions and the Allstars went on a goal-hungry rampage. Jamie Bullock scored the fifth, his first this season with a cool finish in the box, and the first half ended with the Allstars leading 8-0. Time to bring on the substitutes including Dean Bland who scored two scorching individual goals. This was a fantastic team performance from keeper to strtker, everyone gave their all. The U12's were at home to Gateshead Leam Rangers, and won a comfortable 7-0. Allstars dominated the match, from start to finish, showing a spectacular performance. The passing and movement was slick and thorough, but had to be seen to believed. Callum Tarren (2), Daniel Groves and Ross Kelly were among the scorers.

Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers JFC

The bad weather conditions of late caused many of Mount Pleasants games to be called off. However, the following games were played.

The A Team played at home in the league to TIBS FC. Rangers started well and dominated play with some excellent passing football. They had most of the possession throughout the game and won a deserved 5-1. Rangers scorers:- Johnny Blewitt 2, Joe Clare and MOM, Ben Turnbull 2.

Played away to unbeaten local rivals Brinkburn Juniors. Rangers had a bad first half but came back into the game in the second period, however they could not find the net. Final score 4-0 to Brinkburn. Rangers MOM, Shane Hall for another outstanding performance.

A friendly that followed saw Rangers fight back by bagging 2 good goals. Final score ended 4-2 to Brinkburn. Rangers scorers:- Russell Weaver & Matthew Harrison on his debut for Rangers. Rangers MOM, Tom Hunter.
