Stokesley 6 North Skelton 1

When 17-year-old Craig Johnson turned up for Stokesley's Arthur Reed Cup tie at home to North Skelton, the chances were that he would once again be on the bench. Shortage of personel at kick off time however resulted in him being in the side from the off and Johnson repaid the faith shown in him by the club's management by rattling in a first half hat-trick as Stokesley romped to a 6-1 win over North Skelton. North Skelton's consolation was Wayne Allen, while Johnson added a fourth and fifth. Stokesley's sixth goal came from Charlie Price.

North Riding Saturday Challenge Cup Round 3

Lingdale Tavern 5 NS Bulls Head FC 3

North Skelton Bull's Head came closest to going through but lost out to goals in the last stages of the game. Lingdale Tavern raced into a two goal lead with goals from Steve Wright and Shane Breckon before Richard Bailes pulled one back for the Bull's from the penalty spot.

Ten minutes into the second half, Simon Nelson made it all square only for Breckon to put the Tavern ahead once again minutes later.

The Bulls responded to the challenge once again with Bailes getting on the end of a cross from Dave Hitchin to equalise and they might well have gone ahead when Bailes hit the bar with the Tavern keeper beaten. Five minutes from time however, Breckon completed his hat trick and Gary Calvert broke through to score.

Brotton WMC 9 South Bank Utd 1

Despite this game being switched to Mannion Park, South Bank United failed to make home advantage pay and were no competition for the Brotton side once they had gone ahead in the 15th minute.

A goal from Peter Truscott was all United had to show for their efforts in the opening 45 minutes as Brotton raced into a 6-1 lead. Despite starting brightly after the interval, United failed to stop the goals coming conceeding three more before the referee blew the final whistle.

League

B & H Kings Head 0 Coulby Newham 2

Coulby Newham pulled off the upset of the league fixtures with a win over the King's Head. Following a goal less first half in which both sides took time to adapt to the heavy conditions, Coulby took the lead on the hour mark when Stewart Sizer fired home a low drive from twenty five yards out. 15 minutes later, Mark Sowerby went on a solo run that ended up with him increasing Coulby's lead.

Thornaby Village 0 St. Mary's College OB 5

St. Mary's College took full advantage of the King's Head slipping up as they moved into second place in the league with this victory. Despite the best efforts of their man of the match, centre back Anthony Hamling, the Village were two down by half time and in the second half the goals came along at regular intervals with Mark Elliott (2), Tony McTaggart, Dave Aspery and Mark Allison all getting their names on the scoresheet.

Thornaby Mandale 5 Middlesbrough Post Office 0

League leaders Mandale maintained their unbeaten record to move 11 points clear at the top of the table although the game only went ahead when Post Office secretary Ken Dalton stepped in at the last minute to officiate in the absence of the appointed referee. Bradley Murray scrambled the ball over the line for Mandale's opener and although the Post Office had their chances it was Andrew Dyson who increased Mandale's lead mid way through the half. Early in the second half, Stephen Lambert shot home from the edge of the area but the scoreline remained the same till late in the game when goals from Lee Dyson and Stephen Hindmarsh wrapped up the points.

Black Horse 0 The Grenadier 10

Another game without its appointed official only went ahead when the Grenadier's Darren Beattie took charge of the whistle. A first half hat trick from Andy Fixter set the Grenadier on it's way as they raced to a six nil lead by the interval.

Paul Cockburn was also on the hat trick trail while Paul Stephenson (2) and Craig Bishop made their contributions to produce a result that takes the Grenadier up to fourth place.

While the Black Horse went down to yet another heavy defeat, the spirit in the team cannot be denied with players continuing to battle hard despite facing an uphill struggle in most of their matches.

Stockton Elementis 2 Redcar Coke Ovens 6

Anthony Gregory added another four goals to his tally for the season in Coke Ovens win over Stockton Elementis. Gregory had the Coke Ovens in front as early as the tenth minute and although Chris Tyson equalised for Elementis, Coke Ovens went in at the interval leading 3-1.

Ennis continued to press for an equaliser and their efforts were rewarded with just five minutes remaining when man of the match Wayne Gent turned two defenders on the edge of then box before finding the top corner of the net.
