Veteran member, Roy Bainbridge, aged 68, decided to seek warmer climes and took part in the Barbados Marathon in temperatures well into the 90s He finished in 29th place and was first in the M60 category. This was a hat trick of category victories for Roy in this event.

Club Captain Karen Hudson recently competed in her first Marathon, the Dublin, which is easier to get into and has fewer runners than the London Marathon, about 8000 this year. Some runners were late arriving for the race because of problems with air travel, and were to be found changing for the race from suitcases at the side of the road! Karen had travelled the previous day and had no such problems. She ran in a time of 4.19.04 which was very pleasing for a first marathon, and has raised £775 in sponsorship, to be shared by the Special Baby Unit and Cancer Research at St James' Hospital, Leeds.
