ANOTHER man has been arrested over a race attack on pizza shop staff last Saturday night.

The man, believed to be from the Stanley area in County Durham, was arrested on Wednesday night and questioned before being released on bail.

Three men, the Algerian owner and his two employees, a Libyan and a Kurd, suffered head and facial injuries and needed hospital treatment after the attack at Munchies Pizza Shop, North Road, Catchgate, near Stanley.

A gang of at least six yobs attacked their victims with sticks or pool cues.

As they fled the scene, they painted racist graffiti on the shop's shutters.

Police arrested three men earlier this week and released them on bail pending further enquiries.

The victims, who suffered head and facial injuries, have all been released from Durham City's University Hospital.

A police spokesman said yesterday: "We arrested a man last night. He was questioned and released on police bail pending further inquiries.

"That brings the total number of arrests to three men for their involvement in the attack and the fourth in relation to the graffiti on the front of the premises.''

He added that the incident was still being treated as racist. Witnesses are asked to call Stanley CID on (01207) 232144 or Crimestoppers on (0800) 555 111.
