A HOUSING group has received Government cash to help people who cannot afford a mortgage to buy their own home.
Under the scheme, the Nomad Housing Group can provide people in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear with a loan equivalent to 25 per cent of the price of a property, subject to an upper price limit which varies from region to region.
The aim of the Homebuy scheme is to help tenants in housing association homes and those urgently needing a home on local authority waiting lists. It also helps free up rented properties where there is a shortage, so they can be let to those in need.
Anyone wishing to be considered for the scheme can ring Sharon McMahon, from Nomad, on 0191-2134800.
