A PARISH council has won its fight to create a children's play area in open countryside.
North Yorkshire Police had expressed concerns about the playground and safety of youngsters using it because it would be on open land outside Langthorpe, near Boroughbridge.
But councillors voted six to one in favour of the scheme.
An earlier meeting of the Knaresborough area planning committee at Harrogate Borough Council had also voted to support the Langthorpe Parish Council application.
