A CYCLIST left fighting for his life after a collision with a car has died ten days after the accident.
Joseph Anthony Donkin, 20, from the Oxclose area of Washington, Tyne and Wear, died on Thursday afternoon at Newcastle General Hospital.
Mr Donkin had suffered head injuries after an accident involving a black Ford Fiesta, which had been travelling in the same direction as him on the A693, near High Handenhold, Chester-le-Street, at about 8.15am on December 10.
After undergoing lengthy surgery the same day, he was still unconscious and kept in intensive care.
The Fiesta driver, a 19-year-old man from Beamish, County Durham was uninjured.
