The woman behind hit TV shows including Byker Grove, The Tube, The Word and The Big Breakfast has been awarded an OBE for her services to broadcasting.
Newcastle television executive Andrea Wonfor, 58, began her working life as a trainee for Granada in 1966. She married and moved to the North-East, where she joined Tyne Tees.
She left after 18 years, as director of programmes, to run Newcastle based independent Zenith North, before moving to Channel 4 during Michael Grade's reign, and then to Granada in 1994.
She left Granada earlier this year, returning to her native Newcastle to set up and run her own TV company.
She also set up the Great Ethiopian Run - modelled on the Great North Run - to raise funds for an Ethiopian athletics training centre.
