A NATIONAL park ranger who retired last month after 27 years service receives an MBE.
Trevor King started work for the North York Moors National Park as a volunteer - but his hobby soon became a full-time job lasting nearly three decades.
Stepping down in November, he said he was looking forward to spending more time with his family and his hobby of sailing.
His years of service to the national park included last year's foot-and-mouth outbreak and helping to fight the fires which swept the moors in the mid-1970s.
Mr King said his MBE was a shock - albeit a pleasant one.
