Service with a song has been added to the menu at Bettys in Harrogate.
Twenty-year-old part-time waitress Claire Cave has become Yorkshire's first singing waitress. Studying music and performance at York St John College, she regularly performs in the tea rooms and has now been given her first starring role.
Early in the New Year, Claire will be performing Who Was Betty? - a musical exploration of the history and mystery of the tea room. Jonathan Wild, a member of Bettys' family, will talk about the business that has produced cakes, breads and chocolates since 1919, while Claire will perform songs from each decade. She said: "It is very hard to get a break in the music world so I am thrilled to be performing at Bettys."
The performance will take place on Thursday, January 9, from 2pm until 5pm, in The Belmont Room at Bettys, York.
Paula Kaye, branch manager, said: "We are really looking forward to Claire and Jonathan coming to Bettys in York. It is a treat to have such multi-talented staff."
