A NEW sexual health clinic for young people is to be launched at Chester-le-Street.
Teenage Confidential is a sexual health clinic aimed specifically for young people, which has been organised in partnership with the youth centre and designed in consultation with young people.
It has been funded by the Durham and Chester-le-Street Specialist Health Promotion Service and will be held every Thursday from 6.45pm to 7.45pm, from January 23.
Angela O'Neil, sexual health outreach worker, said the service will also cater for young people from the surrounding villages, as the youth centre provides a bus to help young people from these areas attend a weekly disco.
She said: "Services such as this are scarce in the outlying villages, so for young people attending the disco, it's a good opportunity for them to receive information, advice and contraception services in an informal setting."
