FORMER boxing champion Barry McGuigan is visiting the region next week.
The former WBA featherweight title holder and Sky Sports pundit will be the guest speaker at a Gentlemen's Evening and amateur boxing event in Consett, County Durham, on Friday, January 29.
More than 250 boxing fans will attend the sell-out event in the town's civic centre. Other boxers appearing include the sport's rising star, Alex Arthur and Commonwealth Games gold medal winner David Dolan.
As well as the speakers, there will be six junior boxing matches, with some of the combatants coming from the Booker Amateur Boxing Club, run by former IBF World Cruiserweight champion Glenn MaCrory, in Catchgate, near Stanley.
