SHOPPERS have been praised for their generosity following the success of a Christmas appeal during which shoppers donated presents.

The Asda Superstore, in Bishop Auckland was inundated with gifts which were given to the Salvation Army to distribute to children.

John Bowman, events co-ordinator from the store, said: "The kind generosity of our customers has really made a difference to someone this Christmas time. I would like to thank everyone for their support.''
