A CAR dealer from Consett has given a boost to a children's charity.

Eric Soulsby, of Motor Services, Consett, in parnership with Daihatsu Vehicle Distributors, has donated a new Daihatsu Terios EL 4x4, worth £12,000.

It will be the star prize in the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK's first national raffle.

Mr Soulsby said: "When Make-A-Wish approached Daihatsu to help them with their raffle, they had no hesitation when they knew of the wonderful work the charity does throughout the UK, granting wishes to children living with life-threatening illnesses."

Other prizes on offer in the raffle, backed by Make-A-Wish supporter and patron Keith Chegwin, include four nights in Las Vegas for two people, including flights, and television equipment worth £500.

Tickets are available from any Daihatsu dealers, as well as Make-A-Wish volunteers.
