Tow Law Bass Cup:

Esh Stag's Head won the toss for staging the anticipated tightly matched final against Tow Law New Market A but no one forecast the most one-sided final in the history of the competition.

In the match of six darts and six dominoes singles followed by three doubles at each, there was no need to ever reach the doubles as the Stag's Head had won through for the loss of only two points.

The surprise was set in the first darts singles when Andrew Maughan of the Stag's beat Kenneth Atkinson and this inspired the Stag's to pull off a seemingly impossible result.

The result of the darts singles were (Esh Stag's Head names first) Andrew Maughan beat Kenneth Atkinson; Ken Robson lost to John Parkin; Jackie Hodgson beat David Dixon; David Platt lost to Bob McFadden; Malcolm Whiteman beat Darren Yeoman; Tommy March beat Bobby Gray.

The dominoes singles proved a whitewash for the home side. The results were (Esh Stag's Head names first) Tommy March beat Gary Parker; Davey Metcalfe beat Bobby Gray; Alan Maughan beat Kenneth Atkinson; Jackie Hodgson beat Darren Yeoman, Mally Walker beat John Parkin; Malcolm Whiteman beat John Graham.

The final result was Esh Stag's Head 10 Tow Law New Market A 2. The Presentation Evening will be held on Monday, March 10 at Esh McKennas.

Tow Law Newcastle Courage Cup

The final turned out to be a very one-sided affair as Tow Law Football Club, who won the toss for home venue, slumped to the visiting Tow Law New Market B in the match of six pool singles, six dominoes and singles and three pool doubles. However the match never saw the end of the pool singles or the start of the doubles for the visitors had completed victory by eight points to three.

In the pool section the footballers only managed points from Terry Ginty and Les Hind, whilst John Beveridge, Tommy Sloan and Ray Weir won for the New Market. The dominoes was even more one-sided as only Keith Muse scored a point for the footballers, whilst Michael Bell, Tom Hauxwell, Gavin Tennant, Ray Weir and Robert Hopps took the New Market B to a very convincing victory
