ARMED police stormed a house yesterday after receiving a tip-off that a teenager had a firearm.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and questioned by police when they raided his Darlington home.
He was held while the armed response unit raided his home, in George Street, near Bank Top Station, to check nobody else was in the property.
Another police unit searched the house for weapons.
Sergeant Ian Sturrock, of Darlington police, said: "We received reports that there may or may not have been a firearm inside the premises.
"A man has been arrested by my colleagues in CID, but he was not on the premises at the time."
A police spokesman said last night: "The 19-year-old will be held until the search of his house is completed. If a gun is found, he will be questioned."
