The following cases were heard by Darlington magistrates yesterday.

WOMAN BANNED: A woman has been banned from driving for six months after admitting driving with no insurance, no licence and no test certificate.

When Jayne Latcham, 28, of Bell Street, Bishop Auckland, was stopped by police in Cockton Hill Road, Darlington, she told them she owned the Ford Sierra she was driving but could not produce her documents. She was fined £70 with £35 costs, and banned for six months under the penalty points totting-up procedure.

CASE ADJOURNED: The case against Kenneth Bailey, 53, of Geneva Crescent, Darlington, who is accused of driving without due care following an incident involving two horses in the town's Neasham Road, was adjourned until February 24.

NO LICENCE: Claire Metcalfe, 26, of Cricketfield Row, Darlington, was fined £70 after admitting driving with no licence or insurance in Darlington in November.

The court heard that Metcalfe's Kia Pride car was stopped by police in Albert Road. She was fined £70 with £35 costs.

SPEEDING FINE: Gary Cooper, 33, of Dunbar Road, Hartlepool, has been been fined for driving at 102mph on the A66 near Barnard Castle in September last year. He admitted the offence and was fined £75 with £35 costs.

HEAVY LOAD: A lorry driver admitted driving a heavy load over the bridge on the A67 at Barnard Castle a month after gaining his heavy goods vehicle licence.

Adam Mulligan, 24, of Briar Meads, Leicester, admitted exceeding the bridge's 7.5 tons weight restriction and was fined £70 with £35 costs.

DRIVING BAN: A man has been banned from driving for speeding at 120mph on the A66 at Barnard Castle. Adrian Smith, 38, of Waverney Road, Peterlee, was recorded by a speed camera travelling 50mph above the spend limit.

He admitted the offence and was fined £100 with £35 costs, and banned for six months under the totting-up procedure.

MECHANIC FINED: Mechanic Graham Beck, 19, of Whessoe Road, Darlington, admitted driving without insurance, test certificate or driving licence, and driving without due care in the town's Meynell Road.

He was fined £200 with £35 costs and his licence was endorsed with 12 points.
