POLICE acted yesterday to arrest two men suspected of a series of rooftop burglaries in Derwentside.
Officers arrested the men, who are thought to be in their 20s and from the Sunderland area, at about 5am yesterday.
A police spokesman said the pair were also wanted by other North-East police forces in connection with similar incidents.
The latest business to be targeted was Woolworth's in Consett, last week.
The burglars gained entry to the shop through a metal hatch on the roof, but left empty-handed.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Cath Knox, of Stanley police, on (01207) 232144.
