A SAFETY partnership is on hand to give crime prevention advice to towns and villages.
Two neighbourhood watch evenings have been organised by the Hambleton Community Safety Partnership.
The aim is to encourage people to start their own schemes supported by police officers, security companies and existing scheme members.
Community safety officer Val Dodsworth said: "The meetings share best practice between organisations and make people aware of the advantages of joining." The partnership's officer, PC Mark Roberts, said: "Statistics prove that areas covered by schemes have less burglaries than those that are not.
"Other forces have had the system put in place where crime was rife and the crime figures have fallen dramatically."
The meetings are at Romanby Golf Club, Northallerton, today from 7pm and the Golden Fleece, Thirsk, at 7pm on Tuesday, February 18.
