A PRIMARY school in Billingham is beginning to improve following its Ofsted report last year.
When the inspection at Billingham South Community School took place in November, the headteacher and deputy head had only been in their posts for a few weeks, following several changes of headteachers during the previous three years.
Inspectors noted how this had affected the school's performance.
The report said the appointment of headteacher Ken Robinson had "given new direction and fresh impetus to the life of the school".
It also highlighted how there was "a commitment to move forward".
The headteacher and governors have now put together an action plan.
The previous report said inconsistencies in teaching led to lower standards.
However, these are being addressed and the school is working closely with the Local Education Authority's literacy and numeracy consultants.
Mr Robinson said: "The inspection has been a valuable aid in helping us to put together a range of new programmes and procedures to enable us to move forward."
