A GUIDE leader has returned from a peace-promotion trip to Thailand.
Lucy Hall, 26, a voluntary district commissioner for Monkseaton Guides, in North Tyneside, spent a month in the coastal Sattahip region of Thailand as part of the international service team in the 20th World Scout Jamboree.
The jamboree, which takes place every five years, and is scouting's biggest event, was attended by more than 30,000 people.
To qualify for the service team, Ms Hall had to undergo a selection weekend.
During her visit she worked on the youth programme and was based in the global development village.
Her role included running a workshop which taught children about peace and fraternity, and taking part in sessions encouraging them to think about what peace means.
They aimed to address problems arising from developments surrounding the area's small communities.
