YOUNGSTERS will be taking part in hockey training next week in a bid to get more people involved in the sport.

Stockton Borough Council has organised the half-term training at Norton Hockey Club for more than 70 youngsters aged from ten to 14.

Emma Warnes, the sports development officer for the borough council, said: "The idea for the training is to integrate youngsters who do not normally have the opportunity to participate in hockey into hockey clubs.

"They will have the opportunity to learn skills, meet people and work towards governing body development awards."

Some of the youngsters will then have the chance to attend further hockey training.

To take part in the training days, call organisers on (01642) 358511.
