A SENIOR detective has been disciplined following reports about his behaviour in a pub.
Simon Orton, a former acting CID chief inspector in Derwentside, was given a written warning following allegations he made "inappropriate comments" to another customer.
A spokesman for Durham Police said Det Insp Orton had been formally interviewed following reports about an altercation in the Company Row pub, in Front Street, Consett.
An internal investigation was held following the incident in December.
The spokesman said: "He has received a superintendent's written warning. He is now working at force headquarters in Aykley Heads."
The spokesman said it was unlikely Det Insp Orton would be returning to Consett.
