A CANCER charity has launched its biggest appeal yet in an effort to provide more psychological care for patients.
York Against Cancer's £200,000 appeal will fund the appointment of a consultant clinical psychologist as well as nursing and administrative staff.
The service will help cancer patients and their families suffering from stress and depression.
The chief executive of the charity, Patrick Shepherd, has appealed to clubs, associations, church groups, schools, and factory and office workers to help the appeal.
He said: "We know from experience elsewhere that professional psychological care at this stage can improve the patient's response to treatment and improve the quality of life for both patient and family.
"So we see this as an opportunity to give a real boost to cancer treatment facilities in York."
