A SCHOOL'S provision for environmental education, the arts and pupils' personal development were highlighted in a report by inspectors from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).

Cassop Primary School, the first wind-powered school in England, is a place "where children blossom", say inspectors.

The report says: "At Cassop the headteacher, staff and governors never settle for anything less than the best."

It describes headteacher Jim McManners as having "infectious enthusiasm and inspirational leadership".

But Mr McManners was quick to point to the quality of his entire team, which includes teachers, non-teaching staff, voluntary help and the pupils themselves.

Mr McManners said: "We could not be more pleased with the Ofsted report.

"We are particularly pleased that the inspectors confirmed our firmly held convictions that effective education can be exciting and adventurous."
