A VISITOR farm will remain in the Dales on a permanent basis after seven years "on probation".

Hazel Brow Farm, at Low Row, in Swaledale, was given temporary permission by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority in 1995, with a review due in 2001.

A decision on its future was shelved two years ago as the foot-and-mouth crisis swept the region.

The farm was then given another year's grace last year to allow time for new management strategies to bed in - including ways of controlling cars and coaches visiting the site in the light of complaints from neighbours.

The national park's planning committee was told at a meeting on Tuesday that some residents still had concerns over parking.

However, members agreed their misgivings were not enough to warrant closing the popular attraction, which brings in an estimated 9,000 tourists a year.
