PREPARATIONS are underway for the second annual show of the Darlington and District Orchid Society.
Top nurseries, including Mansell and Hatcher, of Rawdon, near Leeds, and Ray Creek Orchids, of Scunthorpe, will be at the show at the White Horse Hotel, in North Road, Darlington, in March.
Mr Creek joined the society last year after speaking at one of the meetings two years ago.
He was so impressed with the group that he signed up and now travels to the monthly meetings from his home in North-East Lincolnshire. Paintings and greetings cards by another society members, Janet Orme, will also be on show and available for sale.
The hall where the show will take place will be decorated with orchid-themed art by pupils at Haughton Community School, Darlington, and a group of local artists called Art For Arts Sake.
Anyone who would like to learn more about orchids, see the exhibits or buy any of the flowers can attend the show between 11am and 4pm on March 8 and 9.
