PRINCE'S Trust volunteers went on a county-wide quest yesterday to brighten the lives of hospital patients.
A team based in Bishop Auckland left their base in the Lightfoot Institute for a fancy dress treasure hunt they hoped would help them reach their £500 target.
The money is being spent on creating a sensory garden at Weardale Community Hospital, in Stanhope.
It will be dedicated to the building's designer, architect Rob Niven, who died from cancer last year. Works starts on Monday and is expected to last for two weeks. Assistant team leader Sarah Antcliffe said: "We contacted volunteer agency 2D who suggested the garden. It will be something for patients to enjoy."
