PUPILS at a Darlington school have been honoured for their academic and sporting achievements.

Darlington Football Club player Neil Maddison returned to Hummersknott School and Language College to present awards to pupils at the school's annual prize-giving ceremony.

Diving, divisional round of English Schools, winner/national finals, 7th Emily Pattinson.

Netball -Holiways Netball Club Prize (Senior) Laura Gardiner, (Junior) Rachel Hagger. under-16 and under-14 squads Qualified for ESNA Final for first time. Under 16 Squad gained medals in Bishop Auckland Division C. Squad Represented by: Fiona Davison, Laura Gardiner, Frances Watson, Rachel Donald, Lydia Sweeting.

Athletics -Quakers Running Club Award Ross Cowan, Bethany Rowntree. English Schools Cup Competition, intermediate girls represented by Julia Orr. Junior boys represented by Ross Cowan.

Both squads qualified for the North-East final.

Town Sports: Outstanding individual performances were achieved by Julia Orr 1,500m and high jump, Abigail Blackburn discus, Katie Edwards javelin, Nichola James 800m, Alexandra Snook 1,500m, Sarah Barton 200m, David Carter triple jump and 1,500m, Ashleigh Bond 200m, Abigail Wilson 200m, Sarah McDonald 300m.

Cross-country: Overall winners of Town Cross Country, squad represented by Julia Orr. Individual winners: year 10/11 girls Julia Orr, year 8/9 girls Abigail Wilson, year 8/9 boys Ross Cowan, year seven boys Joe Watson.
