A CHARITY that helps unemployed people find work has gone into liquidation, resulting in more than 100 redundancies.
The Northern Training Trust, based in Peterlee, east Durham, informed its 107 staff at the end of last month that the company had collapsed, despite a rescue package by its management.
The organisation has been helping unemployed people of all ages in the former east Durham coalfield find work since 1979. In the past three years, it has helped nearly 2,000 people find work by providing them with training.
The charity's trainees will be offered the chance to transfer to other training schemes, and other people on Jobcentre Plus programmes will be referred to their local job centres.
