ORGANISERS of a fundraising drive are appealing for volunteers to take part in a world record attempt.

The Ann Teasdale appeal has been set up raise £20,000 to send the mother of two to the US for urgent medical treatment.

Mrs Teasdale, from Newton Aycliffe, in County Durham, has had a leg amputated after contracting a rare disease, and faces losing the other unless she receives treatment in Texas.

Several fundraising activities have been set up and now television hypnotist David Knight has offered to help.

Mr Knight is aiming to hypnotise 50 people in record time during a show at Redworth Hall, between Darlington and Bishop Auckland, on March 20.

Organisers are looking for 100 people to volunteer, either as subjects or helpers.

Other events planned include a disco at Newton Aycliffe WMC on March 1, and a sixties and seventies night at the North Briton, in Aycliffe Village, on March 8
