SPECULATION over who would take one of the prime sites in a North-East shopping centre was ended yesterday.
Fashion retailer New Look confirmed that it would be moving into the premises vacated by What Everyone Wants in Darlington's Cornmill Centre.
About 20 jobs will be created by the move and an open day, held by Darlington Jobcentre Plus, will take place on Wednesday to fill some of those posts.
About 2,500 jobs are to be lost across the UK with the winding down of What Everyone Wants after a buyer could not be found.
The 10,000 sq ft site on the ground level of the Cornmill Centre was expected to attract a large amount of interest.
The open day will be held at the Jobcentre, from 10.30am to 3.30pm, and New Look store manager Sue Oliver will be there to meet prospective members of staff.
She said: "We are delighted to be relocating to our new store in Darlington and are equally pleased to be working with Jobcentre Plus to be filling these vacancies."
