Goals for St. Francis came from Natasha Collins (2) and for Marton from Rebecca Robinson (5), Felicity Middleton, Stephanie Chisman, Hannah Burdon and Bethany McGhee. Players of the match were Sarah Rowbotham and Sammy Conroy.

President's Trophy

Birtley Town 2 v 3 Low Fell Juniors

Weather conditions could not prevent this excellent game taking place. Low Fell got the better of Birtley with 3 excellent goals from Morgan Armstrong (2) and Laura Rackstraw. Birtley replied with goals from Holly Pyle and Charlotte Kruk. All of the girls worked hard which made it hard to choose players of the match. Players of the match went to Charlotte Emberson and Ashleigh Ord who both created problems all day. Congratulations to Low Fell who move onto the next round of the cup.

Middlesbrough FITC 4 v 3 Billingham

Both sides worked hard from the first whistle but it took until the 14th minute of the first quarter when Jessica Close scored a fine goal for Billingham. At the start of the second quarter Middlesbrough equalised and then went on to win the game 4 - 3. This was an excellent match with some great football played. Players of the match were Gemma Cowell and Toni Hardy. Goals came from Rachel Duncan, Becky Stephenson and Jess Hughes (2) for Middlesbrough and Rachel Turner Holmes, Jessica Close and Toni Hardy for Billingham.

Boldon 8 v 6 Barnard Castle

The pitch was a little heavy but the conditions were nice. Both teams started well but Boldon were shocked in the first 3 minutes when Barnard Castle scored. As the first quarter settled Boldon took control and by half time were 4-1 up. However Barnard Castle never gave up and got back in the game. It was an end to end game which finished up 8-6 to Boldon. This was a typical cup tie played well by both teams. Players of the match were Sophie Williams for Boldon and DAnielle Scarr for Barnard Castle. Goals came from Melissa Sandland, Steph Shaw (3) and Sophie Williams (4) for Boldon and for Barnard Castle Stephanie Hutchinson (3) and Danielle Scarr (3).

Spraire Lasses 1 v 4 Blyth

Blyth were worthy winners in the north vs south battle in the second round of the President's Trophy. Claire Pitt for Blyth scored 1 goal as did Anna Thompson and player of the match Rebecca McGinley scored 2. Laura Gowling scored a consolation goal for Spraire Lasses to make the final score 4-1 to Blyth. Jordan Atkinson was player of the match for Spraire and Lauren Claxton starred in defence.

Cramlington 0 v 3 Norton & Stockton

An evenly matched game with both sides playing some good passing football. Goal scorers for Norton were Emily Wilson, Rebecca Saliki and Rebecca Hole with the player of the match awards going to Rebecca Caldow and Phillipa Thomas.

Seaton 0 v 17 Newcastle Juniors

Seaton faced a very experienced and well organised team in Newcastle. Although Seaton tried hard they found it very difficult to penetrate the Newcastle defence. Player of the match awards went toAmy Currell and Jane Latif.

So. Durham Royals 5 v 3 Stockton WE

Royals entertained Stockton West End and took the lead through some good passing and a text book finish by Rebecca Toppin, ten minutes later Royals extended their lead with a goal from Fiona Cantwell. The third goal came from Vicky Wray, not to be outdone Sara Ellis made some excellent runs at the Royals defence but Stockton went 5-0 down. Stockton game back into the game scoring three goals in the last ten minutes of the game with Sara Ellis scoring (2) and taking the player of the match award for the visitors. Other scorers were Olivia Inman for Stockton and Alex Saunders and Rebecca Pattinson with the player of the match award going to Rebecca Toppin.

Lumley 3 v 2 Wardley Wrens

A well fought out contest saw Wardley take an early lead only to see Lumley reply 3 times before half time. Wardley scored their second in the third period of play with both sides battling for superiority with umley finishing the stronger. Player of the match awards went to Hayley Lee for Lumley and Carley Dilbert for Wardley.

Under-13s

North Shields Juniors 2 v 3 South Durham Royals

Goals came from Stephanie Towns (2) for North Shields and for South Durham Chloe Mackay (2) and Lauren McDonnell. Players of the match were Stephanie Towns and Stephanie Hartley.

Blyth Town 11 v 2 Lumley

Blyth started well and soon had a comanding lead with early goals coming from Tracy Corbett, Rachel Lee and Abbie Young. Jodie Kendall got player of the match for Blyth and proved too hot for Lumley to handle. Goals were coming freely from Blyth and took and 8-0 lead. Lumley'd player of the match Sarah Unwin contributed to a mini revival and Lumley scored 2 goals from Kristina Minto and Emma Preston. Blyth incresed their lead to 11 - 2. Lumley never gave up and battled throughout. Blyth's goals came from Rachel Lee (3), Tracey Corbett (4), Jodie Kendall (2), Abbie Young and Colette Hall. For Lumley Kristina Minto and Emma Preston.

Newcastle Juniors 1 v 6 Boldon

Boldon pressed hard in the first quarter and had a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Boldon continued to press hard and took a 4-0 lead. Katie Kirkup in goal for Newcastle prevented the score being much worse. In the third quarter Newcatle dug in and were rewarded with a goal. Boldon hit straight back and Katie Kirkup produced some more great saves. Boldon were rewarded with a goal to restore their 4 goal lead. In the final quarter the heavy pitch took its toll. Newcastle tried hard but Boldon seemed the sharper and scored a further goal. In a game which promised much Boldon ran out deserved winners. Players of the match were Elizabeth Tulip and Michaela Carter. Goals came from Laura Logue (Newcastle), Jane Riddel (1), Joanne Moncur (1), Rachel Raine (1) and Michaela Carter (3) (Boldon).

Under-14s

Forest Hall 2 v 2 Catterick Juniors

Forest Hall began very strongly and attacked against the wind. The breakthrough came on 20 minutes when Sarah Bennett burst through to give Forest Hall the lead. Catterick replied immediately and then took the lead into the interval. The second half started with Forest Hall trying everything for the equaliser. Sarah Bennett scored the equaliser and her second of the game. Forest Hall then laid seize on the Catterick goal but could not beat the defence and a draw was a fair result. Players of the match were Sarah Bennett and Charlotte Ewbank. Goals came from Sarah Bennett (2 - Forest Hall) and Kelly Collinson and Kim Osborne (Catterick)

Cup

Newcastle 4 v 0 St. Francis

Both teams seemed geared up 4 the semi final of the President's Cup and both teams tried to play good football on a heavy pitch. An early goal gave Newcastle the lead and the upper hand. St. Francis had a few chances to equalise in the first half. Newcastle squandered many chances that would have killed the game off, however good goalkeeping and defending kept the score down. A full strength St. Francis maybe would have kept the score down. The final score was 4-0. Players of the match were Laura Jobson and Kelly Daily. Goals came from Anna Stokoe (2), Danielle Clasper (1) and Rebecca Boakes (1).

Under-18s

Newcastle 6 v 1 Boldon

Newcastle got off to a blistering start and took the lead after 40 seconds. Boldon equalised through a penalty after 8 minutes. At half time Newcastle were 4-1 up. Newcastle set out in the second half and were rewarded with 2 further goals.Newcastle didnt have all their own way and only good defensive play and some lucky breaks secured the points. Players of the match were Nikki O'Donnell and Amy McDowell. Gaols for Newcastle came from Amanda Ross (3), Nikki O'Donnell, Raphaelle Freeston and Naomi Robson. Boldon's goal came from Christina Adamson.

Lumley Ladies 1 v 4 Marton

A great game to watch with both teams showing speed, control and some excellent passing. Marton took the lead from a goal mouth scramble and extended their lead to 2 before half time. After the break Marton hit the net again before Lumley pulled one back through Louise Winter. Marton sealed the game with a fourth goal. Goal Scorers for Marton were Lucy Martin (2), Lauren Sedgewick and Katie Suttron with the player of the match awards going to Sarah Price for Lumley and Alex Simpson for Marton.

Chester-le-Street

Chester-le-Street's penalty shoot-out win in the fifth round of the Cup against BillinghamTown was every bit as dramatic as the scoreline suggests.

The game ended 2-2 with Billingham drawing first blood when a Katie Huntingdon free kick found its way in, but Chester-le-Street fought back and levelled though Ashley Scott.

The second half saw the Cestrians having much more of the game, but again they went behind when Sarah Hills was put through from a free kick to beat Rachel Young in the Chester net.

Again, Chester-le-Street fought back when Natalie Gutteridge swept home a Rachel Furness corner.

Chester could have won the game, but Gutteridge hit the post and the game went to penalties.

Goalkeeper Rachel Young scored the first, then saved Billingham's first.

Rae Taylor netted the second but Billingham pulled one back. Anne Marie Purvis had her effort saved, and Billingham levelled. Leanne Clark and Vikki Ryder both netted, but Billingham scored twice to go to sudden death.

Sarah Muir stepped up to restore the lead, then Rachel Young saved Billingham's penalty and put Chester-le-Street into the semi-final after a 5-4 shoot-out win.
