LIVES are being put at risk on the Yorkshire coast by thieves who are stealing lifebelts.
In the latest incident, four were taken from Scarborough's seafront between the Sea Life Centre and the coastguard station.
Coastguard Dave Warburton said: "Removing the lifebelts could be a matter of life and death before they are replaced."
