A Methodist preacher follows in the footsteps of the movement's founder as he heads to the North-East to deliver a public lecture on Saturday.
The Reverend Dr Leslie Griffiths will speak at North Road Methodist Church, Dur-ham, as part of the worldwide celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the birth of John Wesley.
Dr Griffiths, superintendent of the Wesley Chapel, in London, is also an accomplished author and broadcaster, regularly contributing to BBC Radio 4's Thought for the Day.
Wesley was a frequent visitor to towns and villages across the North-East, and a book will be launched at Saturday's event reflecting his influence in the region.
Former Sunderland University history lecturer Geoffrey Milburn has revised his publication, The Travelling Preacher, telling of Wesley's 46 visits to the North-East during the 18th Century.
Autographed copies will be on sale at Saturday's meeting, which is organised by the North-East branch of the Wesley Historical Society. The lecture will be given at 3pm.
