PUPILS at a Middlesbrough school are being well fed with facts as well as food before classes start.
Fifteen youngsters aged seven to 11 were given a lesson in sandwich-making and how to keep a balanced diet when they were visited by Carolyn Liddle, of Warburtons.
The bakery company has agreed to supply bread to the Junior Support Base Breakfast Club at Marton Grove Primary School, in Lambton Road, so the children can have a tasty start to the day.
Mrs Liddle said: "We had great fun together and the children had some suggestions for wild and wacky fillings.
"There is also a serious side to it and the children learned why a balanced diet is essential."
She taught them the value of different types of food and how they go together to make tasty traditional sandwiches.
Class teacher Jan de la Pena: "Our children grow both physically and mentally very quickly and they need lots of fuel to do this.
"Thanks to Warburtons, we can now ensure that those in the breakfast club get an extra boost before lessons start."
