Sedgefield Family History Group visited Sedgefield Library for its February meeting to see the facilities available to help members in their research, including the availability of Internet access.

The next meeting is on Monday, March 17, at Ceddesfeld Hall, in Rectory Road, at 7.45pm. Guest speaker Carol McLee will give a talk about Scottish Family History Through Experience. New members are welcome.

BLOOM SWITCH: Sedgefield in Bloom's annual meeting has been switched from Monday, March 17, to Monday, March 31, in the Parish Hall, at 7.30pm. A meeting will follow the AGM to plan a programme for the coming year. ALLOTMENTS COMMITTEE: The next meeting of Spennymoor Town Council's Allotments Committee is at 6.45pm, tomorrow, in the council chamber, at Spennymoor Town Hall. It will be followed by a meeting of the finance and general purposes committee.

ANGLING DATE: The annual meeting of the Locomotion Sea Angling Club will take place in the Locomotion One pub, Heighington, on Sunday, at 11am.

TABLE-TOP SALE: A table-top sale will be held at Morrison Close Community Centre, Woodham, Newton Aycliffe, on Saturday, March 15, from 10am until 2pm. To book tables, call (01325) 313924.

SCRUTINY COMMITTEE: A meeting of Sedgefield Borough Council's scrutiny committee for culture, recreation and housing will be held tomorrow, in the council offices, Green Lane, Spennymoor, from 10am.

CHC MEETING: South Durham and Weardale Community Health Council will meet in the Elgar Room, Bishop Auckland Town Hall, on Tuesday, April 8, at 1.30pm.

FUNDRAISING TOTAL: The Christmas fair at St Edmund's Parish Church, Sedgefield, raised £948.89. A further £929.30 was raised from a Parish Gift Day.

CHURCH SERVICE: A service will be held in Sedgefield Methodist Church, at 7.30pm, on Friday, to mark Women's World Day of Prayer. The message from the Women of the Lebanon "Holy Spirit, Fill Us" is the theme. Guest speaker is Margaret Foxall.

HOSPICE THANKS: A recent campaign to recycle Christmas cards and Yellow Pages directories has raised more than £600 for the Butterwick Hospice, in Bishop Auckland.

CHURCH LUNCHES: St Mark's Church, Eldon, will serve lunches in the church on Saturday, from noon until 2pm.
