MAJOR roadworks on a busy Teesside road are nearing completion.

The Concorde Way dualling scheme has involved work on 1km of road along Concorde Way to Preston Farm Industrial Estate, Stockton, together with the re-modelling of the junction with Yarm Road. A roundabout has also been built at the junction with De Havilland Avenue. The central islands to the roundabouts at Yarm Road and De Havilland Avenue will include paved landscaping with granite monoliths. Work is expected to be completed by Friday.

COLLEGE BLAZE: Firefighters were called to the old Stockton and Billingham Technical College, in Oxbridge Avenue, Stockton, on Saturday afternoon after a fire broke out in a disused classroom. Two rooms were badly damaged by fire and smoke, and the first and ground floors were smoke damaged.

CRAFT FAIR: A gift and craft fair is being held at Norton Green Community Centre, Norton, on Saturday, from 11am to 2pm. There will be a variety of crafts including candles, painted glass, crystals and novelties. There will also be refreshments and a cake stall.

FASHION SALE: The Butterwick Hospice is holding a retail fashion sale on Thursday, March 27 at The Swan pub, Wolviston Road, Billingham. The event starts at 7pm and includes a raffle, tombola, cabaret by Nick Stevens, and a pie and peas supper. Tickets, priced at £4, are available from Butterwick Hospice shops.

NEWS FLATS: Stockton Borough Council has received a planning application from Python Properties to convert first, second and third-floor flats in Finkle Street, Stockton into five flats.

CAR DAMAGED: Firefighters from Grangetown were called to upturn a three-wheeler car after it had been pushed on to its roof in Stephens Road, South Bank in the early hours of Sunday.
