The battle for the championship goes on unabated with Stokesley SC the new leaders.

They edged Boldon CA out of pole position on goal difference when they defeated Whitehaven with an early second-half goal by Craig Johnson and a brace from Nathan Haslam.

Boldon CA, who have been in splendid form recently, suffered a setback in their title challenge when they lost by an only goal to Annfield Plain. Lee Tweedy's shot was deflected into the net.

Wolviston kept alive their hopes with victory over Stanley United at Hill Top.

Keiron White broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time before John Symon made it two in the 70th minute. Stanley were reduced to ten men for the remaining 15 minutes as Wolviston secured three crucial points.

Jarrow moved off the bottom of the table for the first time this season. Three weeks ago they were no-hopers after gaining just two points from 19 matches but incredibly they have now won their last three.

Barnard Castle Glaxo were their latest victims. Manager Michael Hutchinson showed the way to goal giving Jarrow a 20th minute lead and Stuart Anderson added a second seven minutes into the second period.

Although Stuart Murray pulled a goal back for Glaxo, Jarrow finished strongly and two goals in the last ten minutes by Dean Patton again had them celebrating.

Ferryhill Athletic are now at the basement. They conceded the lead in their home game with Ryhope CW who ended 3-1 winners.

John Makepeace headed a corner into the net on 61 minutes but within seven minutes Ryhope were level with a penalty from Stephen Rochester who became Ryhope's hero as he went on to complete his hat-trick.

The local derby between Redcar Town and New Marske ended all-square. The home side dominated the early play but Marske came more into the game and went ahead through James Kesterson. It was no more than Redcar deserved when Billy Millington levelled.

Darlington RA maintained their magnificent form even though they needed extra time before seeing off the challenge of Harton and Westoe to reach the final of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup.

Harton struck first but Steven Johnson levelled to take the tie past 90 minutes.

Johnson put RA in front with a great 25-yard effort and when he scored again, it was all over for the visitors who finished with ten men.

North Shields moved into the semi finals defeating arch championship rivals Birtley Town. Leading scorer Eddie Miller blasted a terrific shot into the roof of the net to give the Robins a 35th-minute lead.

Birtley had their chances but when Miller evaded a challenge from goalkeeper Stephen Harrison in the 57th minute, the visitors faced an uphill struggle and Shields finished comfortable winners.

One tie was played in the League Cup and Windscale progressed to the last four defeating Cleadon SC 2-1. Dean Rogers put the Cumbrians ahead but soon afterwards, Andrew Quinn levelled.

There were just 12 minutes remaining when Rogers hit the winner.
