Tyne Tees Girls Youth League - Under-12 Division: St Francis 4 v 2 Norton & Stock. Anc.

This was a cracking match between two teams who gave their all before the home side triumphed. The visitors took the lead in the first quarter before Francis 's girl of the match Sarah Rowbotham equalised before Laura Lidster put the home side ahead before Norton levelled the score at the interval. A cracking free kick from Rowbotham put Francis back into the lead before Lidster made the game safe with her second of the match. Robyn Sharpe and girl of the match Phillippa Thomas scored for Norton.

Stockton West End 4 v 1 Billingham T.

West End started off the better of the two teams and only fine work by Rachel Turner-Homes in the Town goal kept the score down to a single goal by Rebecca Moore at the interval. The third quarter saw a goal apiece from Amy Plummer and Sara Ellis as West End maintained their slender lead into the final quarter. Katie Metcalfe scored a brace as West End run out 4-1 winners against a spirited Town team. Rebekah Jennings and Sam Gregory picked up player of the match plaudits.

Simply Lasses 3 v 3 Marton

At the start of this game both sides engaged in a fiercely fought battle which was very even and had an equal amount of attempts on goal. The first period of play ended with both teams unable to find the breakthrough. The next period of play saw Marton score twice in quick succession with Simply unable to find the reply they were looking for, half time 0-2. The next period of play saw Simply score twice with both being scored by Bronwyn Doran, this made for an exciting final period of play with the scores level again. Marton started the final period by taking the lead and Simply seemed as though they were not going to find the equaliser, but with four minutes left they equalised with a goal from their keeper Nikita Cadman. This came from a goal kick which skimmed the head of the Marton keeper and landed in the net. Player of the match awards went to Zoe Cooke for Simply and Rebecca Robinson for Marton who also scored (2) for the visitors. Marton's other goal was scored by Bethany Mcghee.

M'brough FCP 1 v 6 Spraire Lasses

Middlesbrough were well beaten by a clinical Spraire side who with stood all the home team could throw at them whilst scoring six goals themselves. Spraire's Laura Gowling scored (3), Rachel McKnight (2) and girl of the match Jordan Atkinson, whose speed troubled the home side throughout, scored once. Middlesbrough tried hard all game with their player of the match Jo Garvey working tirelessly in midfield, but they couldn't find a way past the Spraire keeper until late on when Becky Stephenson scored a consolation goal.

Seaton Girls 2 v 7 Barnard Castle

Goals for Seaton came from Sara Middleton and Amie Wood with the girl of the match award going to Lucy Beha. Goals for Barnard came from Stephanie Hutchinson and Danielle Scarr who both scored hat-tricks and player of the match Stacey McKitton scoring one.

Birtley Town 0 v 5 Blyth Town

Both teams battled hard throughout the game despite hard winds. Blyth had more shots on goal and with Rebecca McGinley on top form putting away four. Birtley unfortunately didn't manage to score despitetheir shots on target. Claire Pitt scored one for Blyth bringing the score to 5-0. Rebecca McGinley for Blyth was awarded the girl of the match for her excellent work and goals scored. Jessica Wilson in goal for Birtley was awarded girl of the match for doing an outstanding job in goal and pulling off some excellent saves.

Wardley Wrens 1 v 13 Boldon

Wardley kept Boldon at bay for the first 15 minutes before the visitors took control. Player of the match for Wardley Emmy Campbell started off in goal before coming out to score the consolation for Wardley. Boldon player of match Stacey Bonney hit four, Sarah Bowey and Stephanie Shaw three apiece and Sophie Wiliams and Victoria Sherriff rounded off the scoring.

SAFC 24/7 12 v 1 Low Fell

Despite the scoreline Low Fell tried hard in thismatch but were unable to match the bigger Sunderland girls. Sophie Parrish scored from a goal kick for Low Fell whilst Ashleigh Ord and Abby Holmes picked up the respective girl of the match awards.

Under-13s

Boldon 5 South Durham Royals 0

Boldon had the match sewn up by half time against a depleted team with a stand in keeper despite a spirited effort from the Royals, who had Lauren McDonnell shining. Michaela Carter was a constant thorn in the Royals side, scoring all five goals to pick up the girl of the match award for Boldon.

Norton & Stock. Ancients 0 v 8 Blyth

As the scoreline suggests Blyth totally dominated this match with goals from Tracy Corbett and Emily Hill (2 each) and Rachel Lee, Jodie Kendall, Sara Scowell and Hannah Chisholm shared the remaining goals. Emily Hill and Rachael Jameson picked up girl of match ratings.

Under-14s

Marton 8 v 3 Boldon

This was a long-awaited game between two strong teams. Boldon took Marton by surprise, and the wind also played a big part in the game, with both sets of players adapting to the conditions and the play getting better as the game progressed. Marton equalised through Aimee Morrison. The football played was good from both sides and thus the goals followed with Marton extending their lead at half time to 3-1 with goals from Abby Lyle and Steph Libbey.

The second half continued in the same vain with a quick goal from Aimee Morrison, Boldon then pulled one back only to see Marton extend their lead. Goals came from Rebecca Hanratty, Elisha Fry, Abby Lyle and Aimee Morrison who completed her hat trick and was awarded player of the match for Marton with Joanne Moncur receiving the award for Boldon. These teams meet in the cup final in a few weeks time.

Newcastle Jun. 6 v 1 Catterick Jun.

Both teams had to contend with a very strong wind however, it was Newcastle who made the break through after five minutes. They continued to create chances through out the first half with the help of playing with the wind. Catterick showed a good defensive performance only allowing the Newcastle forwards to shoot from a distance. Half time 3-0.

The second half saw a similar pattern developing with Catterick soaking up the pressure and counter attacking. Unfortunately only taking one chance mid way through the half. Newcastle's midfield were very strong on the day and inform striker Becky Boakes putting in an inspired performance. Sadly, the playing conditions did not allow for a free flowing match. Player of the match awards went to Anna Stokoe for Newcastle and Kim Osborn for Catterick.

Forest Hall 1 v 8 St Francis 2000FC

This game saw the Forest Hall girls dominated by the stronger St Francis girls with the player of the match awards going to Sarah Bennett for Forest Hall and Justine Robinson for the visitors.

Lumley Ladies 5 v 1 Spraire Lasses

This was a backs to the wall game for nine-player Spraire Lasses who put up a valiant performance. Player of the match, C Atkinson in the Spraire goal, kept both the score down and her teammates' spirits up. In the end the pressure told with Kirsty Ford hitting a hat-trick in only her third game. Kristina Minto and Jemma Dinning also found the net for the home side. Natalie Syson, Lumley's improving defender, was awarded their player of the match.

Under-18s

Lumley Ladies 0 v 2 Boldon

This was a tight game which was settled in the first half by two goals credited to Boldon's player of the match Amy McDowell. In reality Lumley were punished for defensive lapses and although both sides created good chances the keepers and defences got the better of the exchanges.
