Over the last two weekends, nine Richmond Dales swimmers swam in the Northumberland and Durham County Championships, qualifying to swim in 47 events.

Janine Phillips was the only winner, finished second in the heats of the 100m breaststroke and improving her personal best time in the final to 1:20:25. In the 200m breaststroke in spit of recording two personal best times she was narrowly beaten into second place.

The three nine-year-olds who had qualified swam well. Jacob Attwood, in spite of not being well, swam two personal best times and finished third in the 50m butterfly. Ryan Bishop was placed tenth in the 50m breaststroke. Rebecca Henderson swam exceptionally well over the two weekends finishing with three seconds, three thirds, and a fifth from her seven races and achieving personal best times in all her events.

Hannah Young qualified for seven events and swam well to improve her personal best times in five swims.

Sam Sanderson, 12 years, reached the final in all his events achieving personal best times in seven of his nine events, the 100m breaststroke he improved his heat time of 1:28:13 to 1:25:27 in the final and was narrowly beaten in to third place. He achieved three other third places in the 100m butterfly, 100m individual medley and the 200m breaststroke.

Alec Wann, another 12 year old qualified for eight events and swam well reaching six finals with six personal best times, his best place was fourth in the 100m backstroke.

Iain Wilson, 12 years, swam in the 200m breaststroke achieving a place in the final with a time of 3:11:30 in sixth place, this he improved to 3:09:58 to finish in fifth place in the final
